Does the thought of having a group of squealing, giggling precious slumber party divas cooped up in your house all night long scare the living daylights out of you?  Don’t worry; you can still host a Rockin’ Slumber Party – Road Trip Style.

I have listed a few Road Trip ideas to consider before your next Slumber Party:

  • Take the girls to late night disco bowling

  • Take the girls on a scavenger hunt hitting the houses of all the little boys in class that your daughters are soooo in love with.

  • Take the Girls Roller Skating

  • After the girls do their glam makeovers, pile in the car and head to the local ice cream shop.

  • If the girls promise to keep the volume at a minimum, drive to the nearest Starbucks for hot chocolate (caffeine loaded mochas are the last thing you will want to give these party divas) and a game of truth or dare.  Watch how embarrassed the girls will get when they are dared to stand on one foot and sing “I’m a little Tea Pot” in front of a crowd of coffee drinkers.  Again…..volume at a minimum is a must so as not to upset other customers.

  • Drive to dinner at a Magic Time Machine or similar character restaurant

  • Take the girls to a late night Nail Shop for a basic Manicure or Pedicure

  • After dark, head to the local park and spread out a blanket and tell ghost stories by candle light. Really want to spook ‘em? Do this in a cemetery.  This is only recommended for older girls. The last thing you want is a group of party girls crying in the middle of the night with nightmares.

  • Live near the beach? Take the girls to the beach for a castle making contest by moonlight.

  • Don’t have a pool but have a friend that does? Ask if you can use their private pool and take the girls for a swim fest after dark.

  • Wish it was warm enough for a swim in the pool but instead of sunshine and warm temperatures you have chilly weather and snow? Fantastic, take the girls to the local park for a moonlight snowball fight or for a little snow-woman making. They will be so ready for their Hot Girls Cocoa after this adventure!

Binki No Sew Blanket - Slumber Party Craft Activity

Filed under: Slumber Party Activities — zDiva February 11, 2007 @ 6:21 pm

When you were a little young toddler Diva did you have a binki blanket also known as your lifeline to dreamland? You know the blanket I’m talking about. It is frayed at the edges and has holes in it and at one point in your life you were unable to even think about sleeping with out it. Well if you are still dependent on your special blanket, it’s time to get rid of it and make a new one. If you have long since put your blanket on the top shelf of the closet, bring back those good old days with this Slumber Party No Sew Blanket.

Your slumber party girls will absolutely love this fun craft and treasure their special blanket. You will need to do some pre-work before the girls get started on the project.

First take a trip to your local super store or fabric craft store and take a walk through the fleece fabric selection. You will want to look for two types of fleece; one in a fun and sassy print and the other in a coordinating color solid. Have the store assistant cut you 1 yard of each type of fleece for each girl at your party.

When you get home lay the two pieces together on a table or even on the floor. You may need to trim the edges to make sure that the two pieces are exactly the same size. Now that this is done, cut out the corners of the blanket by cutting strait down the material and not strait across. Now turn the radio on or your favorite television show and get ready for just a bit of busy work. You will now need to make two inch cuts about 1 inch apart. This does not have to be perfect by any means just try and keep the cuts equal width and equal length. Round up a handful of safely clips and clip at all four corners keeping the two pieces of fleece together.

The night of the big slumber party when the girls are in the mood to gab or even watch a movie, pull out the blankets and let the girls finish the project. This is best done with the girls sitting on the floor. Lay each pre-cut blanket out in front of each girl.  Have each girl grab a strip from the bottom fleece and a strip from the top fleece and tie into a knot.  Now, have them tie in another knot. Have the girls tie the two knots all the way around the blanket and whallll–la…. a new binky for each girl to snuggle with.

Let’s Make a Deal - Slumber Party Game

Filed under: Slumber Party Games — zDiva February 7, 2007 @ 12:07 am

Psych ‘em out with this ultimate Slumber Party Game.

Round up three party favor gifts that vary in quality.  For instance, a really cool make-up kit, a bottle of nail polish and a really cheesy bubble-gum machine gift like an ugly ring or slimy hand.

Depending on the size of your slumber party prize gifts, gather three items large enough to cover each gift. For instance, a plastic bowl, cup or even a small box. Just make sure all three items are the same size and cover the gift where no one can see what is inside.

Once all three items are covered, the first Slumber Party girl gets to choose a box and the prize is revealed. The party girl can then decide to keep that gift or choose another.

If the party girl decides to choose another gift, no matter what that gift is, they are stuck with it, at least until the end of the game. When the game is over you can choose to divvy up the gift items and make sure each girl gets one of each gift.

Do you have a June Birthday?  Planning a luau themed or pool Slumber Party?  Make it memorable with this Have a Ball – Slumber Party Activity & Party Favor.

Hit the local Super Center or Dollar store and pick beach balls for every girl planning to attend.  Grab some waterproof markers in fun colors while you are there.  Before the girls arrive lay the beach ball flat and write each girls name on the plastic.

At the end of the night when the girls are in their sleeping bags perhaps watching a Slumber Party movie, give them each a beach ball and waterproof markers to share.  Encourage the Party girls to write all about the good times they had together at the sleepover, their favorite Slumber Party saying or simply their name.  Make sure that the beach balls are passed around and that everyone’s beach ball is signed by one another.

This activity is always a good one to end the night on.  Plus, the girls get a fun summer toy to take home the next morning.

This craft is by no means original, but is most definitely a super kool classic.

No need to spend the money on a craft box set when you can D.Y.I.

Slumber Party Girls love creativity as much as they love expressing it.  All party girls love this craft.

Visit your local super center or dollar store and pick up pretty glass bottles with corks and funnels to fit down into each jar.  Now, round up as many different colors of Kool-Aid as you can find and pour into different bowls.

When the Slumber Party Craft Hour comes let the girls layer the colorful Kool-Aid into the pretty jars to create their very own sand art.

Have your Slumber Party Girls Dress up Diva Style with this fun and outrageous game.

Make two piles of the same type of clothing such as skirts, socks, jackets, earmuffs, hats, etc. Divide the Slumber Party girls into two teams. Have the teams’ line up single file on the opposite side of the room than the pile of clothes.  The first girl in line is to run to the pile of clothes and put on all of the extra clothes and then take them off again and run back to the team line for the second person in line to do the same making a relay. The team that dresses and undresses the fastest wins the game.

The girls really giggle and laugh when an extra large bra or teeny tiny bikini is included in the pile.

Twisted Fashion Show – Slumber Party Game

Filed under: Slumber Party Games — zDiva January 29, 2007 @ 5:38 pm

Who doesn’t love a fashion show? This twisted Fashion Show – Slumber Party Game is so much fun and you will be amazed at how the Party Girls really get into this one!

This game is best played at the beginning of the night.  First, divide the Slumber Party Girls into two teams. Take Team A into another room. Tell Team A that it’s time to get twisted and they need to switch items of clothing or accessories with one another and prepare for their Fashion Show. While the girls are changing, exchanging and getting glammed up, go into the other room with Team B and tell them that they are about to watch a Twisted Fashion show and that the models have switched clothing and accessories. Their job as a team is to write down or guess as many of the switches that they can within an allotted time period after the Twisted fashion show is over. You can go as elaborate as you would like for the fashion show and set up an area for the runway, loud music for the girls to groove to down the catwalk. You can have each girl walk the runway one at a time and then have the models all come back out together.

Now it’s Team B’s turn to get Twisted and host their fashion show while Team A gets to guess the changes.

The team with the most correct answers wins the Slumber Party Game.

Attn: MOM: Questions to Ask Before Her First Sleep Over Slumber Party

Filed under: For Mom's Only: Slumber Party Planning — zDiva January 28, 2007 @ 10:37 pm

Ok, the time has come….Your daughter has been invited to her first slumber party. You called and chatted with the Birthday girl’s mom just to get a better feel of the activities planned. You have purchased the gift for the Birthday girl and even a new pair of pajamas for your little diva. You have helped your daughter pack for her first night away from home. You have done all of this with a fake smile doing your best Award winning performance of cheerfulness so your daughter doesn’t realize how emotionally moved you are by this girly-girl right of passage. Hang in there, Mom!  She’s going to be fine and have a wonderful time! Though I can’t keep your little diva from growing up way too fast, I can give you some helpful hints and questions to ask before the big Sleepover:

  • Does the party agenda include a road trip? If so, to where and when are they to return from the fun? This does not mean that you can just happen to show up at the particular fun spot at a certain time. Don’t be embarrassing, Mom!
  • Does the party host have any family pets that your daughter might be allergic to? If so, make a judement call and either have your girl double up on allergy medicine or politely ask the host that she not let the pet and your daughter interact too much.
  • Does the party host have a private swimming pool? Will the girls be swimming?  Is your daughter a good swimmer or will she need to wear a life jacket?
  • What time should you pick your daughter up the next morning? You don’t want to be too anxious picking up your princess but you don’t want her to wear out her welcome either!
  • Does your daughter have any food allergies that you need to let the party host know of?
  • Most important: Ask your husband or significant other if he/she has any plans on the night of the party. You might as well make the most of the night to yourself and have your own slumber party. :-)

Amazing Race – Slumber Party Game

Filed under: Slumber Party Games — zDiva January 27, 2007 @ 12:27 am

Have you seen this Reality show on TV?  It’s fun and action packed just like every Slumber Party should be. The Party Girls will love this adaptation of this Amazing Race – Slumber Party Game.

First, identify special hiding locations around your house and write out clever clues. For example a clue might be “Brrrrr. It’s freezing in here”. The hiding place would be of course the freezer. Another might be, “I accept drop offs only once a day six days out of the week”. The hiding place would be the mail box. You can make these clues as cryptic or as simple that you feel is appropriate. At each hiding location leave a bowl of assorted candies with multiples of each different kind of candy.

Round up the Party Girls and divide them into teams. The best way to avoid this so as not to have any hurt feelings is simply to have them number off and all the 1’s be a team, all of the 2’s be a team and so on. Now give each team a different hiding location clue so as to send all of the girls in different directions. Tell the girls that when they find the hiding place they are to take as a team three different kinds of candy. Let them know that each piece of candy represents different points that is a secret and will be revealed at the end of the game. The team with the most point wins a prize.

A simple and easy prize is to give the team with the most points the assorted candy.

They are sure to share with the other Party Girls and make everyone feel like a winner.
